Went to look at that Cooper S today. It was mechanically perfect, and cosemetically great. One notable exception though. Rear tail lights are showing a bit of rust which means the buckets are fubar. I really liked the car otherwise though.

Oof, and I know on those, it’s far worse than that. A neighbor had one.
The battery compartment flooded twice before any rust showed on the outside.

Too bad; there was one of those for sale near me recently and they didn’t have any rear pictures which made me assume the worst.

This one had rear photos but the visible damage is small enough that you couldn't see it in the photos.

The procedure for fixing is is insane. You basically have to replace the corner of the car.

Yup, cut the fender to the back of the door, weld in a new one and paint everything.
